81 Square Universe
I don't know if it's appropriate to mention another forum here, but the 81 Square
Universe site appears to be 'down'. I am getting an 'account suspended' screen
whenever I try to connect.

Do any of the subscribers to this forum know what has happened here? Is 81SU
gone forever, or is this disappearance a temporary glitch?

Thank you.

It seems that 81su is down for good. Does anyone know anything about this?

It has been down this time for at least a fortnight. I fear you may be correct when you suggest that
it may be 'down for good'. When I mentioned this in May, I contacted the ISP and it was apparent that
they thought I was the 'subscriber', so no help there.

Pity...

Make that 'a few months'.

On August 7 I posted a message on the Shogi-L mailing list that 81su was already down for more than a month. The owner of that forum (posting as Hiroiigo there) used to post on Shogi-L as Eric de las Casas, so I had expected him to see it and respond. But there was no response at all. I hope all is well with him...

Should I make this Forum be its replacement?
What categories/subcategories would I have to prepare for it?

From memory, there were categories for:

Shogi literature and merchandise
Computer Shogi

There were certainly others, perhaps other readers of 81 Dojo
who were also members of 81SU could remember other categories?

I imagine the real problem would be picking up the members of
the (presumably) now defunct 81SU? They may not all have
been aware of 81 Dojo.

Also the last months where 81SU was working there were barely posts.

By the way: there is also the google group SHOGI-L for shogi fans.
It has the advantage, that it is optimized for mobile devices (the future), but the dissadvantage that there are no categories.
Still as long as there are so less posts, missing categories are not really a problem.

Thanks.

I first posted to SHOGI-L on 19/1/1994, but haven't done so for many years. These days newsgroups (as we
used to call them) appear to be administered by Google and I have to register, but they seem unable to cope
with my registration. There are threads on the help forum which seem to indicate that list owners are often
unable to register new members. They (Google) need to get their act together....

Meantime, I am delighted to be able to use 81 Dojo and will continue to do so!
