Open Memorial Tournament in the 7th International Shogi Forum (ISF)

The 7th International Shogi Forum (ISF) will take place in Kita-Kyushu, Japan on October 27, 28, and 29.

In addition to the official main tournament by the representatives, JSA will hold an International Open Tournamnent (Memorial Event) for those who do not play in the main tournament. Below is the English translated information from the official website about the tournament.

Open International Memorial Tournament

• Date: 29th October, 2017 (Sun)
• Time
  • 10:00 Start of registration
  • 10:30 Start of event
  • 15:00 End of event
• Venue
  • Kitakyusyu International Conference Center, Meeting Room 11 (http://convention-a.jp/kokusai-kaigi/)
  • 3-9-30, Asano, Kokurakita-ku, Kitakyusyu-shi, Fukuoka 802-0001, Japan
• Entry Fee: Free
• Entry qualification: Any foreigners having no Japanese nationality can join
  • Lost players on the 1st day of International Shogi Tournament (the official main tournament) can also join.
• Number of participants: Maximum 80 players (Maximum 40 players for each league)
  • Class A: Dan holders and 1～3-kyu
  • Class B: 4kyu and below, including beginners
• Tournament system: Each player can play as many games as possible within the event time. All games are hirate (even game) with chess clock.
• Prize: Player who won 3 games or more will receive prize. There are also other special prizes.
• Pre-registration
  • Pre-registration can be made via email to isf-open@shogi.or.jp
  • Please include the following information:
    • Name
    • Adress and postal code
    • Phone number
    • E-mail address
    • Nationality
    • Dan/kyu level
    • Age
    • Male/Female
    • Class to apply (Class A or Class B)
  • Deadline of pre-registration: 10th October, 2017 (Tue)
• Other notes:
  • Further information about the tournament will be sent to participants by e-mail.
  • Please bear own costs of transportation, hotel and meal.
  • Please use public transportation to come to the venue. Parking space is very limited.
  • Each player takes a lunch break at any timing he pleases during the tournament. Although there are some restaurants nearby, it is recommended to bring lunch as the restraunts are expected to be crowded on the day.
